Chris McGrath:

This issue has been open for 12 years. Atlassian obviously use JIRA internally, I imagine you use the plugin to make your product bearable? You should disable all the non-standard addins so you can see what a pain your software can be for everyone else.

Austin Hodges:

It baffles me that this isn't available yet. Atlassian succeeds in so many areas, listening to customers is not one of them.

Steve Wirt:

This really is a shame.   This request is now 11 years old.  Flexible wording  and being able to brand every communication from a system is critical for any organization using a service desk.  If we were aware of this limitation when we made our choice, we would have chosen another product from another company.  There is a difference between being a satisfied customer, and being stuck.

Fabian Bellino:

only 17 years and counting since this was logged

Deleted Account:

+me This is a joke, 3k+ votes on this yet no follow up. This is a highly asked feature and is a pain point for your customers. ATLASSIAN, DO YOU NOT CARE? Maybe all the 3k that voted need to start writing an email a day to Nathan Sturgess, Product Manager, Jira Platform. Just like how Andy did in Shawshank Redemption when he wanted to get the Library built :)

Ignacio Pulgar:

I am now an expert in Outlook Rules to make certain emails skip my inbox. I probably wouldn't have learnt that useful skill without such a huge bombardment by Atlassian. Thank you for that part, to say something positive all out of this.

Daniel Salter:

Abomination! This dumb comment utility has vastly superior text formatting and styling options than those provided in Confluence! The ability to format text according to need and preference in a platform like Confluence requires no explanation — it is obvious to anyone who has ever used a word processor.  It is an urgent requirement that should have been met in the original release, not relegated to its longstanding neglected status. Unbelievable.

Alex Burnett:

I have heard that many high school level into-to-programming courses now include "dark mode" as one of the second semester units.

Ben R:

Ah, Atlassian had me excited then that they were providing an update on their "progress" with this... no, just fixing a typo in the description :(

elocio:

For the love of our eyes, PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN! I actively avoid doing Jira work at night because of the eye strain, which unfortunately is when it makes the most sense to update Jira issues after a day's work. Using third party client-side hacks is not an acceptable solution.

James McParlane:

Please God, please! A clock based night-time mode! For my eyes and for everyone else in the room at night when I switch from Terminal to Jira. Have you ever watched the movie "Repo Man" where they open the trunk of the car? This is what it is like when I switch to Jira or Confluence in a darkened room. I have to carefully consider _do I really need to update that ticket now or will I try and remember later_ because my personal choices cause other people permanent retinal damage... well that is how they react. Even now, my eyes are melting.  If you have any empathy you will add me to the beta.  !https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qOc83rpM8hU/WO3nzlp_dXI/AAAAAAAADYc/JXU8kdUhQREs6l5uoueEmvq7tPdcbhyHACEw/s1600/repoman11.jpg|width=328,height=192! +1

Ernest Bauza:

@Owen Blacker - you realise your message is ironic, right? Talking about people spamming, yet there you are spamming yourself with no meaningful update regarding the ticket.  And do you really think people messaging on this thread is what's stopping Atlassian from looking into this ticket? I disagree with you entirely, I say people should keep on commenting daily how frustrating and frankly ridiculous it is that the most voted issue is being kept completely in the dark (see what I did there). Hey, at least we are getting a new issue field screen or whatever, right? No, they are actively choosing to work on what helps push this product out rather than support the users that are already in their clutches and cannot easily migrate for reasons such as this among many others. We don't even get a semi-regular update from them on this bloody thread! If that doesn't tell you they pay little regard to the activity on this ticket, then I don't know what does. Truth of the matter is, it doesn't matter what you, or I, or anyone else thinks about spamming/keeping this thread clean/whatever else. The difference of opinion will exist regardless of someone trying to police this (lots of people tried before and look how well that turned out), so either put up with the emails, set up a rule, whatever it is you want to do. Unrelated, but I personally love reading through people's comments on this thread. Each week, I grab a bag of popcorn and go through week's worth of comments to raise my spirits (shocker, the Outlook rule works!). @TylerC that's an outstanding meme.

Cleyton Bonatto:

Please someone clarify for me the company values. In "*Build with heart and Balance*" they say: "_Passion and urgency infuse everything we do, alongside the wisdom to consider options fully and with care_."  So, isn't this feature necessary/important? Well, this proposal was suggested over *4 years ago* with over *5000* votes and multiple times reminded by comments that this is a health related. We are not looking for pretty, it is already hard enough to work long hours in front of the computer, at night sometimes as mentioned before, so why future consideration? How about "*Don't #@!% the customer*"? They mention: "_So considering the customer perspective - collectively, not just a handful - comes first_". Clearly 5000 is just a handful amongst the millions of users, right? (_Feeling excluded right now_)

fishcharlie:

This shows a real failure by the Atlassian executives. Not investing in your product and not listening to your customers is a very common downfall with companies. I hope this marks the beginning of the end of Atlassian. Hopefully companies like GitHub can build products to compete with Jira more, since they actually care about improving their product and listen to their customers. As for the comments above discussing other alternatives like custom stylesheets, the amount of times those alternatives break is extremely high. Likely will cause even more issues with these other changes they are talking about. It's a bandaid fix, and something that shouldn't be necessary 4 YEARS after this issue was created. Super curious what went into this decision. Obviously the "the decision from our leaders was made with the customer in mind" line is a COMPLETE lie. If the executives had their customers in mind, they would have looked at how many votes this issue has, and put more weight to that. It's so clear that they aren't listening to their customers. Whatever metrics they are looking at to make their decisions obviously aren't the correct metrics.
